This is a painting I did over the summer for a show titled “Go with the Flow.” It wasn’t accepted, but I love how it turned out. I wanted to explore the idea of merging the symbol for the astrological sign Pisces (two fish) and the Yin and Yang. Instead of the traditional black and white color scheme, I went with brighter colors that still hint at the balance between light (pink) and dark (purple).
This was important for me to create because I am aware of the need to balance both sides of my brain. The art historian in me loves to research and analyze and hypothesize about art, artists and the theories behind particular works of art and art movements. The artist in me loves to paint dramatic scenes or super cute creatures with adorable expressions. I have found that I definitely need both the creative and the analytical sides to be nurtured and balanced to feel satisfied in my work.
“Pisces” is acrylic on canvas, measures 10″x10″ and is priced at $45. If interested, please email me at WanderlustArts@outlook.com.
