A Festival of the Arts

All artists are invited to submit artwork for display in the Fine Art Gallery section of the
Inaugural Take pART 2018 Festival of the Arts!
FINE ART GALLERY
The Fine Art Gallery is an opportunity to feature the artwork of local artists from the Central Florida community as a component of Take pART 2018. St. Luke’s values acceptance, hospitality, and community and looks forward to offering a nurturing and encouraging environment for artists to share their gifts. The Fine Art Gallery will be located in Santos Hall (Building C). The sale of artwork during this event will not be permitted however St. Luke’s will provide a small table so that participating artists may display their business cards.
THEME
This year’s theme: “Footloose and fancy free!” is inspired by St. Luke’s summer musical
“Footloose.” The Fine Art Gallery will showcase what this phrase means to you, the artist. Does it make you think of music and dancing? Does it inspire feelings of joy and celebration? All artwork submitted should exemplify what it means to be “Footloose and fancy free!”

This festival is dedicated to creating a safe space for each guest to express their creativity.  Besides the Fine Art Gallery, there will be hands-on demos, community art projects, creative play for children, an open mic night, food trucks and so much more!

I am writer and artist with a degree in art history who loves to talk to people about art. I have spent the last seven years building up The Wandering Art Historian “brand” as a way to connect with people who want to learn more about art. I give lectures and presentations and teach classes and host book club discussions with a creative or artistic connection. I also write about local artists, events, museums, and exhibitions to promote the arts in Central Florida. In 2021, I had a creative crisis. I struggled with authenticity in the art making process. I decided to make myself vulnerable and find out what a real, genuine Adrienne H. Lee artwork would look like. The process was challenging and emotional and revelatory. I learned that if necessity is the mother of invention, then authenticity is the mother of reinvention. I reinvented myself and learned an entirely new medium. The resulting artwork surprised me, and it will surprise you, too. Some people wish for a fairytale ending. For me, the fairy tale is only the beginning.
