I recently completed a third painting in tribute to artist Yayoi Kusama titled Kusama Dots Yellow. It is currently on view as part of the Visual Fringe art gallery housed within the Orlando Shakespeare Theater. It will remain on view through the rest of the Orlando Fringe, which concludes on Sunday, May 26th.
This painting more closely resembles the dot patterns found in the majority of Kusama’s paintings – rows of smaller dots alongside rows of larger dots in an alternating fashion. The visual result of this dot pattern is somewhat mesmerizing and hypnotic. It is almost as if the dots – waxing in size and then waning again – are creating a wavelike motion.
Kusama Dots Yellow is acrylic on canvas and measures 10” x 10”.
