Fine Art Gallery at Take pART 2019

This past weekend I had the honor of curating the Fine Art Gallery at the 2nd Annual Take pART: A Festival of the Arts at St. Luke’s UMC in Orlando, FL.  This year’s theme was “Togetherness” and I was amazed by all the submissions.  More artists participated in this year’s event resulting in not only more artwork, but also a more diverse collection of styles and media.  This year’s gallery included paintings in oil, watercolor and acrylic, photography, digital media, mixed media and collage and more.  We even had a video submission!

For Take pART’s 2nd year, the organizers decided to extend the run of the Fine Art Gallery into Sunday, the day after the main event on Saturday, June 29.  This proved to be a positive and powerful change that benefited the artists and viewers.  Those who could not attend the Take pART event were able to view the Fine Art Gallery on Sunday between church services.  Plus, we were able to arrange a special reception on Sunday afternoon to thank the artists for their participation.

I decided to make myself vulnerable and find out what a real, genuine Adrienne H. Lee artwork would look like. The process was challenging and emotional and revelatory. I learned that if necessity is the mother of invention, then authenticity is the mother of reinvention. I reinvented myself and learned an entirely new medium. The resulting artwork surprised me, and it will surprise you, too. Some people wish for a fairytale ending. For me, the fairy tale is only the beginning.
