Banksy Works from Home

On April 15th, Banksy posted a few interesting images to his Instagram account.  These images weren’t of little girls losing heart-shaped balloons or of bandana-wearing protesters hurling flower bouquets.  These images were of stenciled rats wreaking havoc on what appeared to be someone’s home bathroom.

Regardless of whether or not you are a fan, most art appreciators have probably heard of Banksy and his guerrilla-style graffiti art.  Anyone who has followed Banksy for any length of time would recognize these rats as one of his favorite motifs.  What made this particular social media post so intriguing was it’s caption, “My wife hates it when I work from home.”

A subtle implication that even Banksy, the famed and illusive art “vandal” with a political slant and a compulsion for social commentary, is working from home while self-quarantined.  Banksy may feel like a mysterious figure on par with a superhero hiding behind a secret identity, but with one Instagram post, Banksy became all of us.
