Everyday Magic

You all know that I am a huge fan of murals and public art and that I feature them frequently here on the blog. Last week I visited an exceptional example of what public art can do for a drab space and for a community and seeing it in person left me breathless!

“Everyday Magic,” by Cecilia Lueza

The next time you find yourself passing through the Central Florida area, swing by the downtown historic district of Winter Garden. Major efforts have been made to preserve the history associated with the region, specifically the railroad and the citrus groves, but projects meant to revitalize the area also include art in public spaces.

One such example is this incredibly vibrant and joyful mural titled “Everyday Magic” by artist Cecilia Lueza. Located on a side street off the main thoroughfare, this mural is definitely worth the detour. The colors in this mural really need to be appreciated in person as both the hummingbird and the Bird of Paradise flower feel as though they are buzzing with the energy of life.

More than a selfie stop or an Instagram photo op, this fantastic mural infuses downtown Winter Garden with more color, more energy and more life, connecting the city’s past with its exciting future.

  2. I pose people for photos in front of Winter Garden #1 Lueza mural every visit dwtwn WG! Yes, I walk people around & surprise them with hummingbird mural which is eye popping to people who walk Plant Street for restaurants & farmers market area, but never venture to back streets! Thx Adrienne for fabulous public art read w/morn coffee. Fun that drones make ground art accessible!!

  3. I live in WInter Garden and saw this mural being painted. It’s so cool. I always make sure I walk by it. There are a couple much smaller ones closer to Plant Street. I love my hometown. “Winter Garden a charming little city with a juicy past”.

  4. I love checking out murals. This one is amazing! The colors and composition are absolutely stunning! Frequently, on trips, I’ll yell at whomever is driving to either “slow down!” or “pull over here,” because I don’t want to miss a mural. if we’re in motion, where we can’t do either, I try taking photos from the passenger seat while in motion. I can’t tell you how many trucks I’ve yelled at or sworn at through closed car windows, because they blocked my attempt to get a few photos I could study later.
