The Orlando International FRINGE Theatre Festival, now in its 31st year with no signs of slowing down, is happening right now in the heart of central Florida! If anything, the FRINGE is definitely ramping things up with all sorts of new and exciting activities, shows, performances and events that are sure to keep you joyfully entertained.
One of the new and exciting offerings at this year’s FRINGE is Visual Fringe HQ located in the Patron’s Room at the Lowndes Shakespeare Center. Visual Fringe is the visual arts component of the Orlando FRINGE and it is dedicated to not only showcasing the area’s most talented and creative artists, but to encouraging any and all Orlando FRINGE festival goers to get in on the art-making fun!

So… how do you join in? It’s easy!
First, peruse the VF Gallery lining the walls of the Lowndes Shakespeare Center for inspiration. This gallery is completely unjuried – all artwork is accepted – and there are no specific themes, so anything (and everything!) goes. The VF Gallery features an astounding variety of 2D and 3D artworks in a vast assortment of media that are all available for purchase. And guess what… every penny of those art sales goes directly to the artists!

After wandering through the VF Gallery, make your way to Visual Fringe HQ located in the large round room known as the Patron’s Room. Here you’ll find a safe space to get creative, connect with artists, talk about art and maybe even learn something new. Visual Fringe HQ is considered home base for all sorts of artsy events like the art market with a rotating assortment of local artist with additional wares for sale and the Impromptu Digital Painting session in which an artist creates work LIVE and on the spot inspired by YOUR Spotify song requests!

This is also where you’ll find me on Friday, May 27th at 9pm when I give my very special, very FRINGEY presentation… Dirty Art History!

In addition, you’ll find a stunning flower wall for that perfect Instagram selfie, an art vending machine and a variety of arts and crafts demonstrations, projects and classes.

The Orlando FRINGE concludes on Monday, May 30th (Memorial Day), so make plans now to see some shows and hang out with some crazy fun creative types at Visual Fringe HQ. We can’t wait to see you there!
