Mobile Photography Exhibition 2022

The Appleton Museum of Art in Ocala, FL is hosting another Mobile Photography Exhibition (their 8th!) and all of the 1000+ photos submitted to this year’s show are currently on view. I had a lot of fun participating in last year’s exhibition, so I thought I would throw my hat into the ring again in 2022. I found this year’s categories to be very challenging: PORTRAIT, NATURE, IN MOTION and ACCIDENTALLY AWESOME. The submissions to the ACCIDENTALLY AWESOME category required a brief explanation regarding the photography “accident” that resulted in a surprisingly awesome image.

You can view all of the submissions in person at The Appleton until September 11th. In fact, The Appleton hosts monthly Free First Saturdays, so if you plan to visit, you may want to consider stopping by the museum on Saturday, September 3rd to receive FREE admission!

ACCIDENTALLY AWESOME: Florida Christmas Parade – A troupe of Sandhill cranes was strolling through our neighborhood. After I took the picture, I realized that they looked like part of our neighbor’s Christmas decorations! (Samsung Galaxy S10)
ACCIDENTALLY AWESOME: A Beagle In Motion Stays in Motion Until Acted Upon by a Treat – Photographing any pet is tricky because they don’t usually like to sit still. Photographing a beagle – who only responds to treats – is next to impossible. (Samsung Galaxy S10)

Adrienne,I don’t know if your “post comment” section is working or else it is different than it used to be.  After I click on blue rectangle COMMENT (in this email) the box to type in has REPLY over it & I typed my comment & clicked submit but it did not post.  If I’m doing something wrong, sorry OR if it is not working I wanted you to know  Below are my 2 comments fyi to have.  I also sent my highwaymen comment to the “contact Leesburg link”. Adrienne, I have a large framed Portrait of a City of my hometown Chicago Millenium Park, but my photo is on the sculpture because in 2002 a digital photo artist took great picture of it & I didn’t want man’s face on it so he said give me picture of you! 

    Adrienne’s Aug 24 Highwaymen talk fantastic fun.  She got so many people out on a 90’s temp afternoon.  Her talk emphasized the wonderful Highwaymen exhibit collected by a family. ####

    1. I received your comment – thank you! So glad you made it to the presentation yesterday. I’m sorry we didn’t get to talk more afterwards. A ton of folks came up to me to share their thoughts… and their pictures of their own Highwaymen paintings!

I learned that if necessity is the mother of invention, then authenticity is the mother of reinvention. I reinvented myself and learned an entirely new medium. The resulting artwork surprised me, and it will surprise you, too. Some people wish for a fairytale ending. For me, the fairy tale is only the beginning.
