My Debut Novel… One Year Later

I can’t believe that my debut novel – The Autobiography of an Infinite Being or How I Turned into a Bird on My 80th Birthday – is one year old!

I think back to those dark, bewildering days of the pandemic when I was writing my book in secret. I kept telling myself, “You’ll know you really did it when you’re holding your own story as a tangible object.”

And now, here we are… 17 literary events in 12 Florida cities… one year later.

I couldn’t have done any of this without YOU! I have made so many new friends on this journey and reconnected with friends from the past. Indie bookstores around the state took a chance on me and hosted me for author events and some agreed to carry my book in their shops. All year long, I have partnered with small business retailers, arts groups, charitable organizations, and libraries and made so many beautiful and inspiring connections along the way.

Because it all really comes down to collaboration.

So, thank you, readers for taking a risk on my crazy story and thank you, authors, for your encouragement and support.

I have spent the last seven years building up The Wandering Art Historian “brand” as a way to connect with people who want to learn more about art. I decided to make myself vulnerable and find out what a real, genuine Adrienne H. Lee artwork would look like. The process was challenging and emotional and revelatory. I learned that if necessity is the mother of invention, then authenticity is the mother of reinvention. I reinvented myself and learned an entirely new medium. The resulting artwork surprised me, and it will surprise you, too. Some people wish for a fairytale ending. For me, the fairy tale is only the beginning.
