Tonight is my last lecture on Frida Kahlo for the summer and it has been a fantastic and emotional journey to say the least. In honor of tonight’s presentation, I am sharing this picture I took of my pup dressed as Frida. Why? Because when you’re an art historian researching Frida Kahlo and your beagle stops moving long enough to wear a flower crown and a shawl, you take a damn picture.
Chipper (the Regal Beagle – her full name, obviously) is our rescue pup and I simply adore her. She is definitely the reason for the phrase “who rescued whom?” Incidentally, I painted a portrait of Chipper inspired by this image and in the style of Frida Kahlo. It is on display at City Hall in Winter Garden, FL as part of their Art in Public Places summer show – “Winter Garden’s Best Friends.” Of course, that painting will be shared in a future blog post, so stay tuned.
