“Art is an Adventure”

I am so pleased to partner with Ten Thousand Villages in Winter Park, FL.  This nonprofit fair trade store strives to sustain artisans around the world and draws attention to their daily lives.

Tomorrow night we are hosting an ART PARTY called “FAIRly Modern” to benefit Ten Thousand Villages in Winter Park and the exceptional work they do educating the public on world cultures.  Modern Artists often drew inspiration from world cultures, especially after World War II when artists were trying to cope with finding their own place in the world.

I will be doing a brief presentation on Modern Artists Georgia O’Keeffe, Piet Mondrian, Mark Rothko and graffiti artist, Jean-Michel Basquiat.  We will also have all the guests in attendance participate in an art project inspired by the work of Mark Rothko!  Rothko believed the purpose of his artwork was to connect with humans on a spiritual and emotional level.  He said, “Art is an adventure into an unknown world, that can be explored only by those willing to take the risk.”
