“Black and White” Art Show

Orlando is known for its nontraditional art spaces.  While we do have traditional art galleries and a few museums, we specialize in turning anything and everything into a place to show and sell art.  Coffee shops, cafes, spas, salons, bars and comic book shops are all places where I have participated in art events.  It’s one of the things I love about Orlando’s art scene and it’s what has made it possible for me to show (and sell!) more of my own artwork.

The Barefoot Spa is one such location.  Currently featuring the “Black and White Art Show,” I submitted two Snoopy paintings and both were accepted.  Both paintings sold before the official opening of the show, so the curator allowed me to submit two more pieces.  I am grateful not only that two of my paintings sold, but that I was also given the opportunity to show more of my work.

While showing in traditional gallery spaces carries some prestige, I love the more personable aspect that comes from showing in nontraditional locations.  Instead of business, it feels more like family.

I learned that if necessity is the mother of invention, then authenticity is the mother of reinvention. I reinvented myself and learned an entirely new medium. The resulting artwork surprised me, and it will surprise you, too. Some people wish for a fairytale ending. For me, the fairy tale is only the beginning.
