THANK YOU to all the incredible guests who attended “Brushing Up on Impressionism!” last week and to the Winter Garden Art Association for being such spectacular hosts! I hope you all enjoyed looking a bit deeper into this revolutionary art movement that celebrated the simple beauty of a fleeting moment.
Together we explored how Claude Monet documented the passage of time through his paintings by focusing on nature and emphasizing light. We discussed the influence of Japanese woodblock prints on Mary Cassatt’s emotional depictions of mothers with their children. And, of course, we dove into Edgar Degas’ fascination with movement by studying his ballerinas.
