While visiting the Windy City, we took a boat tour of the Chicago River dedicated to showcasing the city’s rich architectural history. The tours were provided by Chicago’s First Lady and the guides were volunteers from the Chicago Architecture Foundation. This was easily one of the best tours I have ever experienced and since I am a proud art history nerd, you know my claim carries a lot of weight.
Our guide for the 90-minute tour was Lisa who shared an exceptional presentation of Chicago’s history and it’s engineering adventures. Lisa made all the information very accessible and explained things in layman’s terms, making it very easy to identify the different architectural periods. It really stuck with me, too, because, for the rest of the trip, my husband and I were identifying architectural periods in various buildings everywhere we went.

Chi Archtect tour is a treat regardless of person’s interest. Did tour tell you the O’bama Center which family wants in Jackson Park (site of 1893 World’s Fair & Olmsted Landscape) is still being contested by Univ of Chi & neighbors (Museum Science Industry location)!
Hope you went to new wing of Chi Art Museum north side on top terrace to overlook Millenium Park Gardens! I was in Downers Grove IL west suburb past wk & flowers were gorgeous!
