Art in the Time of a Pandemic

Hello friends and followers!

In light of the current global heath crisis and the need for social distancing, most of us will not be able to travel, let alone visit art museums, for the foreseeable future.  Here in Central Florida, most of our art institutions have closed as a precaution and multiple art-related events have been cancelled.  In fact, all my classes with the Rollins Center for Lifelong Learning have been cancelled indefinitely.

While this is disappointing, it is completely understandable.  We must each do our part to limit the spread of the virus and cancelling classes and events seems like a no-brainer.

Thankfully, this does not mean that we must go without ART while we self-quarantine!

I will be ramping up the blog posts for the next few weeks with ideas and suggestions for how to see ART virtually, what books to read, what movies to watch and other ways to stay creative during these trying times.  Let’s all take care of each other and connect with our fellow humans through a shared love of ART!

  1. Looking forward to your resources! I am afraid that this pandemic is going to transform the way we do ‘business’ as usual, which will be significant to the arts and education realms. I learned that if necessity is the mother of invention, then authenticity is the mother of reinvention. I reinvented myself and learned an entirely new medium. The resulting artwork surprised me, and it will surprise you, too. Some people wish for a fairytale ending. For me, the fairy tale is only the beginning.
