Hello art lovers!

The world around us has been rapidly changing over the past few months. Since none of us have ever lived through a pandemic before, we’re all doing the best we can with what we have. That’s all anyone can do, really, pandemic or not.

As the world at large begins figuring out how to safely reopen, we are all realizing that “going back to normal” just isn’t going to happen. And while the buzz words – “new normal” – are being tossed around, I have really had to think about how this “new normal” applies to me.

For starters, Rollins College here in Central Florida is suffering from a huge deficit – $16 million, I believe. Because of this deficit, they decided to make budget cuts and discontinued the Rollins Center for Lifelong Learning. Affectionately known as the STARS (Senior Tars) program, this is a massive blow to our community and its loss has left me utterly heartbroken.

That said, I still want to talk to people about ART!

Moving forward I have decided to try my hand at online classes via Zoom. I am not offering them in conjunction with any organization – it is just me. I am also starting an online book club via Zoom this summer because people need something to do if they can’t travel as freely as they did pre-pandemic.

With these new projects in the works, I am reducing my blog posts to once a week, so check every Wednesday for news from the art world.

As for my YouTube channel, fresh new content is on the way in the form of my new webseries “A Closer Look at Famous Paintings.” A new video will be posted every Wednesday.

I decided to make myself vulnerable and find out what a real, genuine Adrienne H. Lee artwork would look like. The process was challenging and emotional and revelatory. I learned that if necessity is the mother of invention, then authenticity is the mother of reinvention. I reinvented myself and learned an entirely new medium. The resulting artwork surprised me, and it will surprise you, too. Some people wish for a fairytale ending. For me, the fairy tale is only the beginning.
