Blinking Owl Books in Ft. Myers, FL was gracious enough to host me for a recent Meet the Author event and I am still reveling in all the big feelings.

We spent part of the evening chatting about the secret origins of this crazy writing project and then I took questions from the audience. We covered everything from the multicultural crane symbolism to the character name meanings to story structure and the inclusion of free verse. It was awesome!

After our thoughtful conversation, it was time to sign books!

I am forever grateful to Lucy for hosting me at her magnificent bookstore and for making me feel so welcome. Blinking Owl Books is a really magical place where ALL are welcome and everyone will find something special to take home.
It was an especially significant event because so many of my family members were in attendance. The Autobiography of an Infinite Being or How I Turned into a Bird on My 80th Birthday is a book with multiple themes, but one that stands out is Ailith’s quest for a family. This is a characteristic that Ailith and I have in common. Having my family present made me feel supported and even celebrated. I hope they know how much I love them.
And speaking of family, I’d like to share with you a piece of artwork created by my niece, Moriah.

As a recent high school graduate, Moriah has a lot going on right now and yet, she found the time to create this epic tribute to Ailith and her adventures. I have no words to convey my feelings, so I’ll just say that I am so very proud.
If you live in the Southwest Florida area and you would like to pick up a copy of my debut novel, be sure to visit Blinking Owl Books. They have a few signed copies in stock!
