Geek Out! Art Show

Last night I attended the opening of the Geek Out! Art Show at Dandelion Community Cafe in Orlando, FL.  One of the things I love about Orlando’s art community is the prevalence of nontraditional gallery spaces and, more specifically, Dandelion Community Cafe.  Not only do they host themed art shows all year long featuring local artists, but they also serve some of the most delicious vegan food you will ever eat.

The Geek Out! Art Show is chock full of pop culture references and is sure to satisfy a  variety of fandoms.  The work of one artist in particular caught my eye.  The image attached to this post features the work of artist Susan Rayne who, as you can see, is capable of tackling anything the world of pop culture throws at her.  I think what I like best about her work is how deftly she handles her subject matter, making the transition from DC Bombshells to Star Wars to Dr. Who look easy.  Her ability to flow through fandoms amplifies are artistic strengths and her pop culture mash-ups are well-chosen and expertly executed.
