Captain Marvel

I am seeing “Avengers: Endgame” later this evening so it seems appropriate to post this painting inspired by the recent film, “Captain Marvel.”  “Captain Marvel” is easily one of my top 5 MCU films for more reasons than I can list in a blog post.  Beyond its killer 90’s soundtrack and pop culture references (including one of the best Stan Lee cameos ever), Carol Danvers is a unique and fascinating character, her story essentially a mystery due to a serious case of amnesia.  Visually it is stunning and seeing it in IMAX doesn’t hurt either.

I wanted to paint a tribute to Captain Marvel that was different from my regular style.  My intent was to create something with a bit of an urban/graffiti/public art feel to it, so in recreating her iconic symbol I incorporated paint drips and splatters into my clean, hard line graphic style.  I am thrilled with the final result.

“Captain Marvel” is acrylic on canvas and measures 10″ x 10″ and is currently on view at Dandelion Community Cafe as part of their Geek Out! Art Show.

  1. Adrienne, I am viewing all your posts on my iPad — and for some reason, there is never an image!
